My understanding is that Europeans are VERY committed to the euro.... it will happen. You are correct about dual project problems. I see Y2K getting resolved first and then the euro. The first wave of implementation for the euro will be scaled back as the harsh realities of Y2K set in.

In my opinion, Alydaar does not suffer from computer resources. If they suffer at all its from people resources. Since Alydaar has a European sub I'd venture to say that they could be the follow on revenue stream for the Y2K problem.
