Here is some interesting info...

I have been a member of Brown and Company for several years. I had it all: toll free non-internet dialup, great commission rates ($5-$10), and INSTANT execution/confirmation. Now, thanks to all those folks wanting the same, even Brown and Company is having problems. Often the modems won't answer (used to answer EVERY time). Several times in the past month the quote system has been down, and sometimes response time is now substandard. The only good news is that executions still occur quickly and correctly.

The bottom line is that response time problems appear to have become an industrywide problem. Every Tom, Dick, and Harry wants to be a trader (anot necessarily an investor). Trading is addictive, and I hear the FDA and ATF are arguing over who will regulate/tax it ;-)

It is and will continue to get better.

Add the fact that Ameritrade is in a better position to attract new customers than E*TRADE with its favorable commission schedule and attractive homepage... small float and incredible earnings potential make AMTD a strong buy.
