Why thank you Donald. Sorry to hear he wasn't happy with the editors.
IMO, it's still one of the best 5 magazines on the planet.

Donald,
<<I have a copy of the Scientific American article in which Colin told me they made a mess
of editing his book>>- Do you mean Scientific American made a mess or the book publisher made a mess of editing his book? Did you personally talk with Colin or is that a typo and you meant in the SA article you read that the book was poorly edited? Or did Colin personally tell you someone made a mess? If so who? Please clarify so I can read Colin's ideas the way he meant it. TIA

Don and all - be careful what you read.

I will not contest the knowledge of Colin but ever study and every article written about any crisis are usually driven by larger issues becuase their are hidden agendas.

Most major crisis especially environmental issues are a joke. Global warming has been proven false by numerous Harvard and Stanford studies. In addition, the ozone crisis was also scare mongering by certian political parties. These psuedo crisis' are driven by grant money and activist parties. You cannot get money if their isn't a possibility of a crisis to solve.

I will not dispute that oil is a finite substance...and we will someday be faced with a shortage. Do your own research. I could probably find a hundred books that have a completely different view point.

Before you read his book do some investigation on this guy. He probably sits on some activist group or the board of directors of a tree hugging group. Save the whale save the earth kind of thing. His hidden agenda could be he is pushing for grant money for solar energy or alternative fuels.

So Don maybe you can elaborate on this guy's background. Once again I am not here to discredit him but do some homework because if you gave me a few minutes I could find enough articles to refute some of what he is saying.

On the flip side...

If their is an oil shortage on the brink...any company that has anything to do with drilling is going to be effected. As they have a resource in short supply. Even the juniors.

I will use an example. The internet is taking off. People are not JUST investing in AOL. They are investing in any company that has internet in their company literature. Even companies losing money...i.e. Amazon.com The place where you can buy his book. The stock took off overnight.

Maybe this oil writer is pushing the big guys stock??!!??

Do your homework and do your own investigation. When you see any expert writing about a crisis find out where their loyalty's are. People do research to prove what they want to say or what they already know or believe in. (Take it from a guy who was a marketing research major in B-School)

Very rarely is research done independtly to draw conclusions from. Normally the researches have a conclusion - right or wrong - then they find some information to prove part of their case.

Happy investing to all.

Beamer.
