The deal in congress is the biggest ransom ever demanded.

A huge part of the settlement is supposedly TO REDUCE THE NATIONAL DEBT.

This is most outrageous demand in this deal.

WHY DO THE CIGEREETE COMPANIES HAVE TO REDUCE PUBLIC DEBT. What does this settlement of lawsuits have in common with reducing public debt??

Why isn't this fought on principle by the companies. THIS IS NOT AN AVERAGE BILL IN CONGRESS WHERE ""PORK""" IS INCLUDED IN EVERY BILL, this is being paid by PRIVATE companies.

I cannot understand how the tobacco companies are allowed by law to agree to a deal with parties in a lawsuit on the condition that monies not relevant to the issues be paid to another party (ransom) to reduce NATIONAL DEBT. THIS IS MINDBOGGLING.
