The majority of these answers are on the plfm website in the business plan section. As I recall they are claiming (i beleive) 3 planes persite with each plane having a stay time of 48 hours in air allowing maintance without affecting system performance

You can go to their web site, it explains it all....There are 3 planes at each site that stay up for 48hrs with 1 & 1/2 hours ascending and descending time. They are at approximately 60,000 feet and are not affected by the weather.

The initial phase involves 30 planes. That's 10 planes on the air at the same time. The plane will stay on the air for 40 hours before it come back for refueling. I don't how close these 10 sites are and what kind of redundancy will the system have. The plane will fly at 60,000ft, above weather (storms, ect.).
