The best tippers are waiters and waitresses. I can't cite any scientific studies, or even any expert opinion, but it has been my observation that the only people I dine with (except for my extravagant brother) who complain that my tip is insufficient are, or have been, employed in the food service business. The pseudo-scientic explanation for this is that only waiters and waitresses can know how important is the tip to financial well-being.
