Welcome to this thread deeno.Good post. Your point is well taken. I believe most of the present threaders are in this for the long run (for reasons elaborated on in many excellent posts above), but of course would not mind an added boost from the NYSE listing. I agree a choice IPO trajectory at listing is unlikely.
The listing will increase the visibility of this stock in the eyes of the US retail market, and increase exposure in the financial press (SAP advertising not withstanding). This should become an IEBP (In Every Boomer's Portfolio) stock. I suspect a large number of investors are not yet aware that the stock can already be bought in ADR form in the US (based on average volume numbers). Even WSJ articles fail to mention that ADRs are available for this company, I believe the number of ADRs is not fixed: if US demand increases it can be met by formimg new ADRs backed by outstanding stock in Frankfurt. So restricted liquidity cannot be the reason for the relatively low trading volume in the US compared to other technology bell-weathers. Therefore, I infer that the lowish volume is a reflection of low demand due to the low OTC-BB visibility of "SAPHY".

Any other viewpoints?

Regards, and long on SAP

Might be logical except for the fact that the volume to date has been non-existent. Just look at this thread--even these enthusiasts don't know how to buy SAPHY. But that's what makes a market--a difference of opinion.

deeno,

Welcome to the thread and thanks for yur thanks.

The basis of my speculation that there might be a rush (come August 3rd on NYSE) is that many fund managers are restricted as far as investing in OTC stocks is concerned. The formal listing of SAP on the big board would certainly free up opportunies for this group. The same could be said about some individual investors who, for the same reason, are concerned with the liquidity issues.

Anyway, I see an overall positive move when SAP comes to the Big B, although the magnitude of that is hard to pinpoint.

Regards,
Ibexx
