It doesn't tell Joe Sixpack anywhere that he's getting a better box.

Yeah, I think in order to get Joe Sixpack, you need to lower the price. My first reaction when I saw the iMac was, "Wow, cool." My second reaction was "Hmm, $1299 is too much. Should be under $1k." If they could lower the price, it could really move into the consumer market. Oh, and the modem should definitely be 56k.

But I think this iMac thing will hit some markets besides Joe. Anyone who wants a really stylish looking computer. (For example: small retail stores, like a hair salon, where the computer sits on the shop desk, its backside right in front of the customer). This thing is cool. Sure, some people will hate it, and won't want it. But others will buy it just for its looks. And this hits the core of the current Mac market--people who have good taste, and prefer to live in style. As Jobs says, "The back of this thing looks better than the front of the other guy's."

That's true. Many people are biased against the Mac and will make a face at the thought of buying one, even if it is twice as fast, and bundled with everything they need to use. How do you think Apple can change that bias, that negative perception?

There was some guy on CNBC this morning who said that he was waiting for Apple to prove itself with a second positive quarter and even after he got that proof he still was saying that it's too expensive at 29, but to wait till it drops to support at 24 to buy it. That guy needs a lot of proof and will keep adding more and more proof. He'll recommend Apple stock at 50, I guess, but not at 30. What do you think might convince him to recommend it now?
