Well, I don't believe it, DELL actually closed down (whoops some sucker bought a little at the close to close it up fractionally, guess he just couldn't wait to get in on this inv opp of the century that his broker has been telling him about).

Wow, DELL old girl, hold yourself back. She traded a whopping 9 mil shares. I added to my put position again today. I honestly do hope some of you guys at the very least take a few profits. I've seen many a wealthy man get poor quick because of greed. Don't lose hope though, DELL might still make one last ditch, hell bent on leather effort to get to 100. Watch closely if that is your target. it may only stay there for 30 minutes or so.

Keep an eye on the crap going on over in Indonesia and South Korea. Foreigners have alredy stated buying gold. if social unrest gets really bad, you will see a wholesale dumping of paper currencies in favor of hard assets. Just think about all those dollars that we've been spewing out like water form a faucet and what happens when they come home because foreigners decide to go for the EURO or gold? That right.... you get inflation. anybody checked the price of romaine lettuce lately? or fruits and vegetables?

JP,

** OT **

>>> In 1928, the telephone was the new technology, I think the computer is nothing compared to the telephone in terms of evolutionary technology. <<<

IMHO, you are completely wrong here! I don't know where to start! Medicine, Matrix math, Oil exploration - you can name NO field that computers have not helped.

>>> The valuation cycle goes up and it goes down. If these numbers were low, and going lower, then we would know we were approaching the end of the decline.
Conversely they are high and going higher. This means we are getting closer to the end of the up cycle. <<<

How do I know when I have reached the last 'low' or last 'high'?

>>> As for those that were always preparing for the worst that never came,
The reason it never came is they never let things get out of hand. By never letting the country get ahead of itself, they built a huge foundation for the baby boomers to run amuck. <<<

It never came, because it never came! There are so few that prepare that the affect on the whole is NONE! How many built BOMB shelters outside of the US? (private shelters)

>>> When Deflation shows up "in the numbers", it will be way to late to reverse the trend which no one knows how to stop. <<<

The big question is when! Only GOLD will rule, so I trust you are investing there!

>>> WW II is what really got the US out of it last time. I don't know about you, but I don't want to have to go through that. <<<

I've been there, done that, got the hat, got the shirt, got the shaft! And no, the next time let the Congress tote the weapons, for I will shed no more blood for my country on foreign soil. Most of the fine 'citizens' of this country take our freedoms as 'Gods given right' and they are DEAD WRONG. Next time, they will fight for themselves, I'm otta' here!

>>> Your dad will ultimately be right. <<<

If he is not right in his lifetime, it was a wasted life. IMHO How much more he could have done if the 'doomed' economy hadn't taken so much of his time!

Incidently, I assume that since the economy is going to fail, that you are 'self sufficient' and have stored supplies, including water, medical supplies, and any electrical generating equipment you might need. Of course the EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) training will help in the event of any medical emergencies. Keeping the garden in full production for the various food stuffs you will need is no problem. Don't forget to do all of your own canning so that you are familiar with the process. In addition to all of that, raise your sheep (wool, leather, meat), goats (milk, leather, meat), chickens (eggs, meat) - learn how to slaughter, butcher and dry meat, tan hides -, bees (honey, pollination), Fruit trees (apple, peach, cherry, plum), bushes (raspberry, strawberry, blueberry) and then prepare for the real nasty weather or looting that may occur. You will have to be prepared to defend yourself against looters. You will have to have a 'still' to manufacture the methanol to run your generator or small tractor. Until you have done this, you haven't prepared for anything. Have you any idea the number of parasites that can attack animals, fruits and vegetables? Most people just 'go to the store' - there will be no stores with anything in them. Most people haven't a clue as to what it takes to 'maintain existance' over an extended period of time. Don't forget the 'fully equipped' wood, metal and automotive shop where you have the tools and the ability to make repairs to the equipment as it breaks. Have plenty of 'stock' (steel, wood, nuts, bolts, screws, nails, etc.) since you really can only imagine how tough it really is to make steel, even if you have the knowledge.

And YES, I have done all of the above - but as I got older it became impossible to maintain readiness on all fronts. That IS A FULL TIME JOB. Now I just have to expect to survive using the skills that I have learned as a bartering tool.

Regards,

Ken
