ARDT has 14.73 shares outstanding & $6.85 rev/shr. Using 3X sales would put it @ 20.55/shr, or about $300MM. (HUMCF specifically said they would spend $100-$300MM). Interesting, though, that ARDT does not show any signs of speculation over the last several months. The implied volatility has been in the 60-70 range since Feb98, and there has been almost zero option activity, and very little block trading. REDB, however, is the exact opposite. Needless to say, it's implied volatility has been over 100, with heavy block trading & options activity.

REDB calling you at home is certainly unusual.

Good luck-

JL

p.s. I hope you were able to buy the puts. I also traded the May 7-1/2 puts & wrote some calls against my long term REDB position.
REDB has been quite a disappointment recently. I hope to be eventually rewarded, longer term. In the mean time, I've been milking it as much as I can (it's good therapy for my frustration w/ REDB)

Decision Support Environment of Integrated Products, Services, Methodology and
Partnerships Delivers Powerful Solution to Help Speed Warehouse Deployment and
Lower Costs

LOS GATOS, Calif., May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Red Brick(R) Systems, Inc.
(NASDAQ:REDB), The Data Warehouse Company(R), today introduced Red Brick
DecisionScape(SM), the first step in the delivery of Red Brick's strategic
plans to become a complete data warehousing solutions provider. Red Brick
DecisionScape is a decision support environment designed to help data
warehousing customers and partners rapidly develop and deploy successful
decision support solutions, while helping reduce overall cost of ownership.
Red Brick's strategic direction is based on two primary initiatives:

* The development and delivery of integrated Red Brick services and
products through DecisionScape which will enable customers, partners
and application developers to quickly deploy and derive value from a
data warehousing infrastructure.

* The development of packaged analytic applications for "out-of-the-box"
business value through tightly coupled partnerships through Red Brick
DecisionScape.

The Red Brick DecisionScape environment is a unique combination of tightly
integrated Red Brick products, services and methodology together with closely
coupled technical and application partnerships. This environment is designed
to offer the lowest cost of ownership and the best return on investment in
data warehousing projects by reducing time-consuming and costly administrative
overhead while providing a pre-integrated decision support technical base.
Red Brick DecisionScape is also designed to provide Red Brick solution
partners with a path to future competitive advantage through a comprehensive
environment from which to develop and market analytic applications, or
packaged decision support applications.
"Red Brick is focused completely on helping our customers and partners
derive value and success from decision support," said Anthony W. Layzell,
senior vice president, Sales and Marketing. "Our history as a leader and an
innovator in this market has helped us achieve unprecedented success in data
warehousing.
"We are taking an active role in defining the direction we believe
organizations will require in order to improve their ability to compete
successfully in the future," continued Layzell. "We believe our customers and
partners need the combined solution of an integrated technology
infrastructure, the expertise to quickly and successfully design, implement
and support the infrastructure, and the ability to quickly solve real business
problems through analytic applications. Red Brick today defines that roadmap
for data warehousing customers and sets the bar for other data warehousing
vendors."
"Red Brick indicates it plans on providing higher-value services, such as
project management and integration, which we believe will be extremely
helpful, particularly for large accounts who want a single point of contact,"
said Robert Craig, vice president, Application Architectures at Hurwitz Group,
Inc. "This should help Red Brick achieve the position of a total solution
provider, particularly in the high end of the market."

The Data Warehousing Market Has Matured
Red Brick's strategy is based on its belief that the data warehousing
market has matured and requires a comprehensive approach to solving business
needs. Customers today recognize the value of business decision-making
through data warehousing, but need an environment that offers ease-of-use yet
is also capable of managing the challenges associated with growing warehouse
size, usage and complexity.
Red Brick also believes that data warehousing success is burdened by the
integration issues predominant today in the creation of an infrastructure, and
that by reducing that burden through tightly-integrated tools and
partnerships, Red Brick will help customers reach data warehousing success
more quickly and at less cost.

Red Brick DecisionScape
Red Brick DecisionScape couples best-in-class vendor partnerships with Red
Brick's innovative, integrated methodology, services and product offerings for
data warehousing.
Red Brick DecisionScape creates an open architecture in which data
warehouse designers can implement complex and flexible data movement,
networking and closed loop systems to leverage the highest value from shared
business data across an enterprise.

Red Brick Product Offerings
Through shared architectural design, metadata and support, Red Brick's
integrated products within Red Brick DecisionScape help reduce time-to-market,
increase data warehouse administrator productivity and leverage back-to-front
benefits.
Red Brick's integrated products today include Red Brick Warehouse, Red
Brick Data Mine(TM), Red Brick Vista(TM), SQL-BackTrack(TM) for Red Brick
Warehouse and Red Brick Warehouse Administrator(TM). Red Brick acquired in-
process technologies from Engage Technologies in September 1997 which are
designed to extend Red Brick's integrated platform of products for data
warehousing.
Red Brick Warehouse, Red Brick's industry-leading relational database
specialized for data warehousing, provides data warehousing success for small-
to multi-terabyte-sized projects, from individual to thousands of users, and
from simple to massively-complex data structures. The integration of Red
Brick Warehouse with the technologies acquired from Engage will result in a
robust platform of products that will be unparalleled in flexibly managing
complex data requirements. In addition, the platform will provide a
comprehensive technical base from which to quickly launch analytic
applications.

Red Brick Solutions Partners
Red Brick's Solutions Partner Program includes leading hardware software,
application, systems integration and consulting vendors who provide decision
support technology, products and services to customers worldwide.
As a key element of this program, Red Brick has established close
relationships with leading data warehousing front-end and data administration
tools vendors such as BMC Software, Brio Technology, Business Objects, Cognos,
Information Advantage and MicroStrategy. These relationships deliver the
highest level of product integration available, including certification of
tool functionality with Red Brick Warehouse. This certification assures data
warehousing customers and partners that they will immediately be able to take
advantage of Red Brick products and services using these best-in-class tools.
Red Brick also partners closely with application product and services
providers who provide analytic solutions for targeted markets such as retail,
packaged goods, telecommunications, healthcare, financial services,
manufacturing and government. Red Brick products and services are offered as
a primary part of these providers' solutions.

Services and Methodology
Red Brick's Professional Services Organization offers a comprehensive
suite of data warehousing services programs and assistance for Red Brick
customers. Applying its extensive experience in building data warehouses and
implementing Red Brick and other third-party data warehousing solutions, Red
Brick has developed a data warehousing methodology as a key component of Red
Brick DecisionScape. This methodology will provide an intellectual context in
which to deliver targeted solutions, such as in the design, implementation and
optimization of the data warehouse and in the customer's application
requirements.
"Red Brick has considerable expertise in the art and science of building a
warehouse, and will extend this expertise to the complete warehouse lifecycle
using the Engage tools and the expansion of its consulting and implementation
services," added Craig.

Launching Analytic Applications from Red Brick DecisionScape
Red Brick's goal is to deliver analytic applications to customers through
tightly coupled partnerships as part of Red Brick DecisionScape.
Analytic applications will provide pre-built decision support schema,
logic and infrastructure which will enable customers to rapidly deploy and
obtain measurable value from the applications, based on their particular
industry or functional needs. This rapid-deployment ability will shield
customers from changing technical and integration issues and enable them to
focus on future competitive advantage opportunities.
In preparation for analytic application delivery, Red Brick plans to use
Red Brick DecisionScape as the foundation to build and deliver analytic
extensions targeted for specific industries. These extensions are designed to
enhance the abilities of the infrastructure to support the focused
requirements of analytic applications.
Some examples of these analytic extensions, which Red Brick plans to build
or to deliver through partnerships, include mini-applications such as category
management extensions for retail, customer churn management extensions for
telecommunications and specialized extractions from ERP systems.
