I suppose those hanging on would have appreciated some timely insight into the conference call, that explains the lack of information from those who are otherwise posting all night and all day extolling the virtues of RACE and dismissing everything else. The fact is, the shills will pound technology like IP telephony all day long but when the opportunity presents itself to provide meaningful input they vanish. The prediction about cable modems "not making it except in scattered areas" is every bit as bogus as the dismissal of Internet- and Lan-based telephony. All of the giants are moving into this space with high-volume, high-reliability systems which operate using off-the-shelf computing equipment. infoworld.com
