I, unfortunately, am not fluent enough in either French or Arabic to read most literature in those languages (although I have read some French books, with some degree of difficulty). English is my largest reference to literature, but would agree that literature develops a love for the eloquence that written words can have in any language.

I read a book in high school called "One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovitch" by Alexander Solzhenitsen. I thought it was an excellent book. I have yet to tackle "War and Peace" (for shame, for shame).
