As for SEEK and the international "community"...

(I'm long on SEEK btw)
SEEK always says that the international relations are very important, but where is SEEK internationally represented ? There is no infoseek.de or infoseek.fr ... or is it because SEEK is no "classical" webdirectory like Yahoo, but an "real" search engine ? I think most international users will use a localized version of Yahoo or Excite or Lycos, rather then Infoseek... I wish SEEK would enhance their international presence... As for the deal with Deutsche Telekom, I don't see anything on their site (www.t-online.de) relating to SEEK ... I strongly hope that SEEK will expand its brand more agressively and that there will be strong partnerships thru out the world ... localized versions are VERY important imho...

But I think Motro will do the right thing...

Go SEEK !

Enough of this long-term stuff. Why are we dropping? We're at 30 5/8. <eom>

> There were millions of people accessing the net via web browsers
> ....not none as Robert said

Maybe true, probably more on college campuses than in the 'real'
world. I got my first look at Mosaic during the summer of '93
when a college intern at our company demoed the software to us.

> It seems that yes I could buy things off the net 5 years ago.

Again, maybe true, but I sure don't remember it. Let me know
if you can think of a concrete example.

> How do you attach a current valuation on SEEK?

Would you be shocked if I told you I don't know (probably not).
I'm not planning on selling my shares tomorrow.
I'm playing the long term trend here. The Internet revolution is still in its infancy. We can argue all we want about issues like adoption rates in less developed countries but it doesn't change the fact that there will still be MILLIONS of new users coming on board over the next few years. I doubt anyone is arrogant enough to claim
that five years ago they foresaw where the internet would be today.
I don't expect this rate of growth and innovation to slow down
any time soon.

SEEK is not my only internet stock. I want to diversify further and buy more. Some will be duds, but I'm counting on one or two of them turning into the Intel or Microsoft of the next decade. I wish I'd been smart enough to foresee the PC revolution 15 years ago. With the internet I get a second chance.

Why are you so obsessed with valuating SEEK? You must understand by now that valuation means NOTHING when it comes to these stocks. Hence Buffett's remarks 'dont rty to valuate.' Don't buy any then, or short it. Look at AOLs market cap - $18-19 Billion. Can you justify and valuation like that? No. Have people gotten filthy rich on the rise from 1 bil to 19 bil? Yes. Valuations mean squat. Wall Street always knows - and its valuating these companies at these levels. Don't try and understand it, deal with it. I've had phenominal success going long on SEEK. You don't have to... btw, I'd like to know what web browser you were using 5 yrs ago and who your ISP was back then. I'm talking 1993 and I think you're full of it!
