Jim - Re: " Intel is really out of their league in this area."

Have you ever run a system with the Intel i740 Graphics processor?

Have you run a system with the new Matrox MGA200 graphics processor?

Jim,

<Yep, everyone was counting Matrox out. Intels 740i is just another middle of the road video chip. Intel is really out of their league in this area.>

Yep, the FTC and Department of Justice, can sure build a case around this sort of information.

Jim,

I wouldn't say that are out of their league.. I will just accuse them of the same thing I can accuse many video chip makers of.. too much hype.

The i740 isn't bad.. but it isn't GREAT either.. it's (as you said) average.. which is enough for maybe 20-30% of the people who know they want 3D acceleration.

However, the G200 from Matrox (a canadian company I might add <VBG>) was released with almost NO hype and offers excellent performance (will be on par with V2 when in final release) and the best image quality that anyone has ever seen from a PC.. all at $169 USD suggested retail price for an 8MB piece. That's some hefty hardware for "free" (by comparison).

How can you be out of your league if you're middle of the road?
