Rocky,

The Sony HiFD floppy drive is supposed to be released late Summer,

This sounds like an excellent product. My only concern would be the inroads that Iomega has already made in becoming the standard. This is unfortunate, in my mind, because I haven't been too impressed with the Zip's reliability as a storage medium.

Thanks for bringing the technology to my attention.

Regards,

Scott

Doesn't Sony make the Powerbooks? Or is IBM making them now?

I see you beat me to the punch, Rocky (with a handle like that I shouldn't be surprised).

Interested parties (tech investors too) should have a look at:

The new Sony product sounds promising. I'd personally like to see it read and write jaz discs as well as floppy discs. I've found IOM's technology unreliable and would love to move to Sony without losing the use of all the jaz discs I've bought. 200MB just isn't sufficient for me.
