Since the 3.5 is dead what are people/campuses doing? (more)

The new school-campus information paradigm.

I would offer the popularity of the Zip on college network systems, for example in Orlando,Florida Valencia Community College installed a computer network with Dell's Optiflex (no 3.5 only Zip drive). Its very helpful to have a Zip in your pocket while doing Excel or Powerpoint presentations. My MBA professor Dr. Casey swears by his new ZipPlus. He travels alot and now can carry 2 Zip disks for his entire lecture inventory. The big plus for the Zip disk is "I now can find my lectures, before the Zip I would spend and hour searching through a pile of 3.5 floppies."

Also on University of Tennessee, i heard they are doing a similar gig. The Zip cartridge allows the personal storage option to become a reality. Networks and PC's (Apples I-mac, Dells Optiflex) are showing the way, the 3.5 is dead thus there is no need for "backwards compatibility".

Is there a need for the Zip in light of networks?

Although ethernet systems doe not necessitate a Zip drive it allows the student/user to take his/her information with them and allows backup (in case network is down). The Zip also empowers the personal in the field with a laptop. The Iomega family of products adds value to the network by allowing migration to and from the loop thereby increasing usage and diversity of information. peace and instead of saying oooohhmmm. I say iom iommmmm iommmmmmmmmmmm
