Mike:

The most relevant thing about that list is that Taiwan is now going to be reducing spending - still at good levels, but no longer will the increases here help offset the sharp reductions in Korea et al.

Plus American logic may be showing spotty weakness.

Plus DRAM really sucks.

Plus MPU down as well.

So where's the good news?

Nowhere.

---

Markets may be anticipatory - but right now they better take a quick peek in the back-mirror. That tidal wave that's going to be hitting the semi-equips is a real tsunami - not "pretend bad" any more.

We'll find out soon enough. You can bet if AMAT is having troubles, the companies it competes with, esp. the smaller ones, are feeling some BIG-TIME PAIN, all with capitals.

----

Shane. (Not denying economic concerns are not important. BUT even if the economies do uptick, it will be awhile before the semi companies there will be able to get financing. So prepare for a long summer and maybe more. This has been my position since early Feb and I see no reason to get any happier as time has gone by.)

Nobody said Asia wansn't important to the Semiequips. It's just that on the table you just published, Indonesia ranks a fat 0.0%

Here's the exact breakdown:
Japan 13.1%
Korea 6.4%
Taiwan 28.6%
Asia-Pacific 2.4%
Total is 50.5%

Give us back our thread people, and leave geopolitics for aol and yahoo. I'm sure Cary is gone because like me, he doesn't have time to sift though all these messages looking for the few topical posts.

This thread has been ruined by its own success.
