Wonder if GTE's disdain for WCOM has anything to do with last year's rumors of merger talks between GTE and WCOM? Only in America can executives make up for lack of management vision with law suits. GTE buys BBN after WCOM gets UUNET. GTE bids for MCI AFTER BT and WCOM bid. How does GTE reason that WCOM/MCI (#4 + #2) is anticompetitive, when they themselves tried to buy MCI??

I have the displeasure of having GTE local service. They offer no isdn, caller id in our area because their equipment is just as outdated as their management style.

Does anyone feel that the announcement of this law suit is a good indicator that the merger will get DOJ approval?
