Over 100 vendors contributed equipment and networking volunteers for this sophisticated network that connects exhibitors to each other and the Internet, and gives exhibitors and attendees the opportunity to personally experience the melding of different technologies and equipment in order to make informed decisions. Top contributors to the InteropNet included: Bay Networks Inc [NYSE:BAY - news].; Cambrian Systems Corp.; Cisco Systems Inc [Nasdaq:CSCO - news].; Diamond; Fluke Corp [NYSE:FLK - news].; FORE Systems Inc.; GlobalCenter; LAN-hopper Systems Inc.; Lucent Technologies; NetScout Systems Inc.; Platinum; 3Com Corp.; Texas Instruments; Wandel & Goltermann Inc.; and WorldCom Inc.

''This year, the traffic we've received is not only higher than past years, but the customers are ready to buy and want the product now. Our sales team will be very busy following- up on post-show demos after this event!''

This year's expanded Conference Program included four distinct education elements: the new ISP (Internet Service Providers) Forum, provided in conjunction with Inter@ctive Week; CommUnity; Engineers Conference, provided in conjunction with IEEE; and General Conference. Top industry experts led packed tutorials and workshops that provided professionals with instruction on a wide range of topics, including Gigabit Ethernet, VPNs, IP Multicasting and xDSL. The NetWorld+Interop Conference Program represents the industry's only one-stop, continuing education resource specifically designed for the networking, Internet and telecommunications communities.

Several major events held during the week recognized key players and products at the show and allowed the industry's best and brightest to mix and mingle on the exhibit floor. At this year's annual Net Bowl trivia game, sponsored by Network World, the East Coast team of networking experts won against the West Coast team. The industry trivia game, sponsored by Network World, allowed networking and industry leaders to match wits and compete for the prestigious championship title. Monday night, Microsoft and BusinessWeek gave industry analysts an opportunity to visit innovative start-up companies and relax after a busy day at exhibits and conferences with a complimentary reception in the Start-Up City portion of the exhibit floor. On Tuesday afternoon, the Best of Show awards were held to recognize those new products that are expected to significantly advance distributed computing, networking and telecommunications.
