I think he said 23% for overall revenue, which means
the average margin of all products sold in the Q4 and after.

I don't know what product margins are like at Compaq and Dell, but I'd have to think that they're higher than 23%. There was an interesting story on M. Dell in some financial zine lately, and I'm pretty sure there was some mention of his margins in there. It'd be interesting (particularly as Apple moves more and more towards head-to-head competition in Dell and Compaq's space) to see a side-by-side comparison of the margins on the three companies' top products. This would be a cool page to have on a site like MacEvolution, since it would be easy to match up model sales with margins and accurately track Apple's return to glory.
