RS,

It is in the best interest of the options specialist to close a stock at or below the strike price. There are a few reasons for this to take place, some are from my own paranoia others are based on fundamentals with regard to stock supply and demand.

It is complicated to explain, but do some homework, check out 10 stocks this month and where their option strike prices are , and which number of calls and puts contracts have the most open interest. I will bet that 8 out of 10 close at that underlying price of where the most contracts are outstanding.

I hope I helped.

Regards,

Rob
