On Learning From One's Mistakes

Ran across one of the better posts I've seen regarding
the often painful post-mortem involved in learning from
one's investment and trading mistakes. My thanks to
Rainier for the honesty of his approach and the courage
to post it:

Also - don't know if any one knew this but SI is giving

Regarding Motley Fool - I heard Tom & David Gardner speak
at a conference and came away totally underwhelmed. They
had a bunch of Motley Fools in tow, who sat in a row of
chairs on stage and who didn't say a thing, nor were they
introduced...so it was kind of wierd. Maybe now that they've
acheived a Warholesque moment of fame, their entourage were
actually bodyguards <gggg>. I agree that their analysis is
often static, and future projections mere linear extensions
of past trends. However, I'm still a big fan of their conference
call summations, and really appreciate it when they post the
conference call numbers of companies reporting earnings.
Regards, Peter.
