Because there's a vast left-wing conspiracy to obstruct the truth in the name of it's for your own good as is at the heart of all left-wing/progressive thinking. Just when I'm about to have my faith restored in the press' determination to get at the truth I see Tim Russert on Meet The dePressed give the Dems every opportunity to make the Republicans look bad. Of course the Republicans are so inept they do a pretty good job themselves of making themselves look bad and botching the investigation. I also see the nonreporting of IRS abuses, of Ron Brown's questionable death, of campaign fund raising abuses, of selling missile trajectory secrets to the Chinese, on and on. The Republicans give the media enough easy ammunition with which to divert the public's attention from the real issues of corruption at high levels of government. We would see a completely different attitude if the roles were reversed, though, and that's what sickens me to the core. halfscot
