I'd like to see a further explanation of the effects they see on the embedded business.

I can understand how these types of interpretations come about given HP's actions, but I can assure readers here that embedded systems development is a key component to HP's future. HP has a long reputation of being a straight shooter when it comes to communicating it's intentions or strategy. It would be prudent to give weight to their denial about de-emphasizing embedded computing.
