Tomorrow's WWDC keynote to unveil AAPL's OS future

Richard , hard to believe S Jobs ' iMAC baby will be dependent on Win/98 for I/O or anything , considering MSFT's DOJ's problems were well known to AAPL .

WWDC this week should have iMAC answers from BOTH AAPL and developers . As of 5/7/98 there were 4 major iMAC non-AAPL add-ons already in development and one was a I/O porting station .

AAPL's P/E will get a boost if AAPL has advanced its "Dual OS" strategy . Use last years WWDC review as a watermark , realizing it was held before SJ's "Interim CEO" palace coup in July '97:

Kicking off this years WWDC agenda is SJ's "software vision" and here is AAPL's site for scheduling :

Jim K.

What diffence does it make if Netscape survives or not from an Apple investor point
of view.

Because if Microsoft gains dominant market share in the browser market, it can control the technology that the browser uses, meaning everything from OS, to desktop apps, to Internet sites and apps. This is very, very scary. At the very least, this means that Microsoft would indirectly control the success of Macs through IE as it has through Office, e.g. by introducing Mac verions of IE that are later and less compatible than their Windows equivalents. At the very most, it means that Microsoft could destroy Macs and every other platform by making the Internet essentially a proprietary platform.

Netscape did us all a huge service by releasing the source code to Navigator. But only if in doing so, MS's dominance of the browser is stopped.

If Win 98 doesn't ship, it's quite possible that USB
perpherials will not be available for the iMac

Judging from the Panasonic/Imation announcement, there seem to be vendors out there who view the iMac as reason enough to introduce their USB products.
