Thanks for the link to Edmunds.com. There seem to be quite a number of car sites, and it is confusing. I believe the Nissan is more my speed than the Beemer, although I suppose you can get a used top of the line vehicle for a reasonable price. I have heard some great testimonials about used Volvos, about how the mechanics like to work on them and how the dealerships are friendly.

As for the hot rod era, Marshall, I am a bit too young for that and assume that Canadians had access to this mostly thru movies...then again I grew up in the suburbs...whereas my dad grew up in one of those industrial car-building type towns. I suppose cars were a big deal to them and hot rods would have been happening in the 1950's and 1960's.

Canadian farmers also seem to have a love of old cars. They all seem to have one hidden in the barn. My great uncle apparently worked on Al Unser Sr's crew. I personally don't know a carburetor from a cup holder.

The southern, southern part of Ontario (around London and Windsor) is not far from Detroit and the whole atmosphere is steeped in autophilia.

Edmunds (edmunds.com) also provides some useful negotiating tactics and information on dealer holdbacks, incentives, current rebates, etc.

Rod...as far as "being taken for another ride"...so what? At $1 1/8 there isn't much left to lose! :((
