Today's New York Times Business Section... Fairly good article about grabbing eyeballs... and how search engines are hoping to prove "sticky" enough to hold onto "viewers" and become effective portals. SEEK is mentioned in pretty favorable terms... much credit given to Motro. Observations from article: * Major media giants, like DIS, GE, and CBS are seen to be the next players... buying in or partnering. * Me-too-ism is EXPECTED in a new industry... however greater differentiation is right around the corner. (Well, duh....) * It's deceptively simple to get into this business: the path is littered with failures... Pathfinder, etc. * My off-topic (or on) questions of the day: Who is buying PC Quote (PQT)? Or is there just a phenomenal burst in volume with no particular reason except for impending earnings? Who's gonna scoop up Wired Digital? They're private... and just sold their Magazine off. One of the BEST BRANDS on the Web... along with Hotbot... Somebody's gonna scoop'em up... Best Regards, c m
