Thomas & Betts Acquires Discrete Connector Assets from Lucent Technologies, Inc. Business Wire - May 11, 1998 18:20 MEMPHIS, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 11, 1998--Thomas & Betts Corporation announced today that it has acquired two assets, the 700 and 709 connectors, from Lucent Technologies, Inc. The 709 connector is a pair-at-a-time, in-line insulation displacement connector (IDC). The 700 connector is an insulation displacement (IDC) tip and ring and/or ground butt splice connector. No special tools are required to install either connector; installers are ready for work with just a pair of long nose pliers. The 700 and 709 connectors are available filled with a moisture resistant compound or unfilled. Filled connectors provide better protection in outside plant environments, while unfilled connectors are flame-retardant and offer superior fire protection for indoor applications.
