<<Need to get some brockerage buy recommendations to equalize the selling pressure.>>

They unfortunately have several upgrades already - not saying that their isn't room for new upgrades - but I don't think we'll see anything new in the short-term in upgrades.

The MSFT announcement will likely give WS something to get excited about tomorrow - but this story doesn't really present anything majorly new in terms of the MSFT/CHKPF relationship. I don't see that sales in Check Point's core product will increase because of the statements - but if anything - the good should be that WS should feel reassured about Check Point's core product - and hopefully will allow CHKPF to trade on fundamentals as opposed to this 'herd mentality' we're witnessing.

The notes from the release that I did like were the building of VPN's and their core protocol (IPsec) and the planning for one of the major features of Microsoft's upcoming NT 5.0 - the Active Directory - essentially reinforcing Check Point's new found marketing of "Policy Based Management". That seemed promising - but I still believe that Microsoft will embed certain security functions into NT 5.0 - I don't believe that they will ever compete in the enterprise security arena - but more in the workgroup security arena - more in the area of 50 nodes and less - which still carries a large enough space to be significant.

Anyway to make a long story short - I believe WS will view the press release as reassuring - and they may really like it - but from a fundamental perspective for Check Point - it's just not that big of a deal - IMO. Now let's hope the stock does begin to trade back on fundamentals.

Indeed, I find it curious that no analysts have come in with a BACK UP DA TRUCK comment, as usually happens when a decent stock sells off so low like this. Could it be that they are holding off until their preferred clients have gotten their fill? This, perhaps, is the real story behind the story. That Goldman conspiracy theory is nonsense.

Happy Investing!
