Hi Bruce, Many years ago I became acquainted with a great investor in NYC by the name of Jonas Javna. He's still hard at work investing for his own account and doing well. He used a variety of bonds as the core of his portfolio and traded them using the Advance/Decline activity on the NYSE. His calls were nothing short of brilliant.

I still get letters from Jonas once in a while. He's attempted to teach me about how the A/D info worked, but I think I wasn't smart enough to figure it out. However, I did make an attempt to use his basic methods with the NASDAQ. I just couldn't make it work. A year where the S&P100 is rallying and the NASDAQ is flat will frustrate the heck out of you!

Jonas understood the AIM method, but didn't use if for himself. He didn't want to dilute his efforts that had proved so useful over several decades. However, he purchased Newport for his son-in-law. He felt that AIM/Newport was a much better system for his son-in-law because he was 1) much younger, 2) gainfully employed and didn't have much spare time, and 3) was very handy with computers. I should check with Jonas and see how things are going. Thanks for reminding me of him!

Best regards, Tom
