Soloman he is smart right ? Well he likes IBM

" IBM Corp. (IBM) shares jumped up 1 5/16 to 121
5/16 after Salomon raised its target price from $145
per share to between $148 to $153. Last quarter, IBM
made $1.03 billion, or $1.06 a share, on sales of $17.6

Here is another viewpoint on dividends and the overall benefits of company stock purchases. It's an excerpt from a credit rating agency regarding the value of IBM bonds.

"The IBM consolidated balance sheet, overlooking the debt associated with global customer financing, remains conservative and well managed. IBM continues to reward shareholders by supplementing earnings with share buybacks from its solid cash generation."

This is from people whose profession it is to valuate these things.
I rest my case, the more stock they buy, the happier I am.

I completely agree with you! However, you are the one who keeps on claiming that IBM is reducing stockholders' equity by buying back its own stocks!! For the life of me I cannot understand your rationale!! By the way you are not the only one on this thread claiming that IBM's stockholder equity is being cut down because the company is buying back stocks. Thanks
