My real point was that if the "big guys" know of pending knews, then in effect it is already in the market, because they would buy the shares and bid up the price.

The person was trying to say that the "big guys" would not be selling if there were good news pending, which makes no sense. If someone knows of big new "pending," then it is no longer "pending" because they have already traded on it, and the news is in the market.

I think most of these "big guy" theories you hear around SI are pretty bogus, and often an excuse for not going through the difficulty of real analysis, though I am not saying that is the case with the person who made the "pending news" comment, because I don't know anything about him.
