Ann I agree with you completely in that each of those endeavors that you mentioned are worthy and personally fulfilling. I myself work for the food bank at our U. U. church. The point I was trying to make (probably ineloquently), is that I think there will always be organized religion of some sort. it seems to fill some basic human need. I think the problems that each of us see within organized religion are a function of a small subset of people who are wrapped up in hatred and intolerance. what is really needed, IMO, is to find a method with which to combat that hatred and intolerance in a humane and loving way.
