Mark, volume for last 5 days about 3.1 million shares and last 30 days about 3.9 million. The relatively low volume today seems to indicate that shareholders/institutions are keeping Nextel within a trading range that has been trending down - why, I don't know. Significant volume, on a big up or down day, could indicate a changing trend (assuming no news could account for the volume), if it continues for a few days. I would need to see a 50% increase in volume before placing any significance to a rise or drop in prices. Index funds, which must proportionately buy or sell a stock in relation to the other stocks in the index, actually distort the picture of a stock, since the the trade is a mandated one.
