Finally, good, clear, exciting presentations in the Design & Publishing, Education, and Consumer sectors at WWDC today. Apple has *solid* strategies in these areas. For example, Apple is going after the Web/Digital Media arena with four key technologies:

1. Quicktime
2. Colorsync
3. Applescript
4. WebObjects

The strategy is to make these technologies standards before NT5 is released (QT & Colorsync are standards already, Applescript is the #1 programming language on the Web used more than Javascript and PERL and WebObjects is the #1 Web application Dev environment).

All of these technologies will be pushed cross-platform though the Mac will be differentiated with superior implementation. There will be a clear migration path from Rhapsody servers to Mac OS desktops. The brands for these technologies will be promoted strongly to make them relevant to consumers and education markets.

Apple is expecting QT & DV cameras to take off big this year and is looking ahead to the HDTV arena. As a tidbit for which you can draw your own conclusions, they presented the fact that they just sold 300 G3's to a foreign government that represents a *major* market for use in their national TV system.

In education, the strategy is equally clear - maybe I'll post it later - sales are going well with "an opportunity for well over a million units in the next 12 months."
