Best way is to buy the bottom,, have your money ready ,, and buy anything below 25s.. for surely as soon as your kind and gentler Indians come looking for a big mac,, and Clintons loft the sanction SYNT will fly again ,,

Mean while ,, no more of this patronising ,, good Indian talk ,,

Stephen:

People are quick to panic, because they do not know what these sanctions will entail. I do not believe their should be any trade sanctions imposed on the software industry. Especially, at this time when both the US and Indian Companies are in a win-win situation, the US has a shortage of 200,000 professionals today and we need India to help out with our Y2K problem.

As far as SYNTEL goes, I do not foresee any major changes in the way they will be conducting business, after all SYNTEL is a US company and even if there are tremors, eventually rationale will prevail and things will even out.

SYNTEL is not alone, their are over 141 of the Fortune 500 companies that outsource from India today, including Microsoft,Intel, etc. etc., you do not see their stock price tanking, why are Y2K investors so nervous?

>>....I doubt they will go with the USA on this one .......<<

Stephen,

IMHO, Britain doesn't have much of a soft spot for India. Especially since they kicked the Brits out. When it comes down to siding with the U.S. (completely, or else lose valuable political points) or taking a conciliatory line with the Indians who defy a global nuclear test ban, I should think the outcome is undoubtable. They set off FIVE bombs in two days. Just a bit excessive, don't you think?

Meanwhile, the present U.K. government is embroiled in an arms scandal concerning the Foreign Office condoning the shipment of arms to Sierra Leone in breach of the U.N. ban on such. The shipments were made by a British mercenary company run by an ex-soldier with close links to Parliament (of course). Now would not be a good time for the press to report that Britain is going to bat for India re nuclear testing -- against Britain's own acceptance of the test ban.

I have lived in London for several years. Let me assure you that the massive Indian (and Pakistani) population in the U.K. does not reside in a "soft spot". One example: my wife and I have recently been amazed at 2 seperate TV documentaries on corrupt doctors in the U.K.-- which focused ONLY on Indians. Such blatant racism being broadcast on national television and later ignored in the press speaks for itself. Imagine 60 Minutes doing a special on doctors ripping off Medicare and showing only black doctors. Would there be a public outcry? Not here, mate. This would not be a vote-getter for Blair.

Not that any of this will impact upon your SYNT dealings, but I just wanted to flesh out your data base. I do agree with you that it will probably resolve rather quickly. Best of luck.

Cheers,
Bond
