Mr. Zinn: As I understand it the guidance technology that was transferred greatly improves the targeting accuracy of the missiles in the Chinese arsenal. Chinese missiles could easily reach India before. Now they will be able to do so more accurately, perhaps meaning fewer missiles will need to be targeted on India. A logical assumption might be that new targets can be selected. Is the Indian situation related to the missile technology transfer? JLA

How far is China from India? Did they need the above to strike India in the past?

Last night I heard Rep. Bob Barr (Rep-Ga) also note that the technology given to China also included MIRV (multiple independent re-entry vehicle) capability which allows them to put multiple satellites (or warheads) on one missile. Previously they didn't have this capability.
