David, stop whining...HWP is a good company, but, unfortunately, the stock is only +/-...this has been the case for 2 year already...everyone knows this...

I think you are over reacting. The analysts are looking past this quarter to the 3rd and 4th. Lehman Bros in their last report made a point of saying that hp may well miss this quarter but the future looks good. Having said that, someone will make some $$$$$ from this trip.

good luck

>>Anaylst have screwed us again. They probably shorted the stock like
crazy then for the last few days they have been telling ting us how great HWP is going to do. Its so obvious. How can they be that wrong.

David L - I agree with you entirely. I remember when they kept downgrading LU at 76(pre-split) in January and LU shot up and went to over 120 and split. I think we should identify the analysts who bungled the HP stuff and report them to SEC as making false claims.

Hi David.

I fully concur with you about analysts. Although MMs on Nasdaq are more known to pull this type of BS, it doesnt surprise me that analysts play the same type of games regarding listed stocks on the NY exchange.

I've heard details of how some of the more ruthless types do it. Straight from a couple of MMs themselves. One cute MM trick is to re-iterate a positive rating while shorting the stock.

In one case, the MM was aware of bad earnings the day before the announcement. He re-iterated a strong buy that day while shorting the stock. When the earnings came out, he downgraded the next day to cash in big.

You may think that the SEC and the Nasdaq catches such blatent illegal activity, but let me assure you, it happens and they get away with it.
