We will see the details of the lawsuit today.
However, this situation is getting ugly and
out of control. I, as many here, are having
misgivings with the current waves of attack
on Microsoft.

1) Microsoft is not a tobacco company. Their
products are not harmful to our health and
they are not hiding the "bugs" or "potential
addictive power" in their product. And they
are NOT conducting the research under direction
of lawyers with the main purpose to avoid
lawsuits. So why is this vindictive
zeal and "pile-on" "me-too" attitude towards
one of the greatest companies?
Investigation of possible unfair practices
(with the browser, Java) by DOJ is reasonable.
20 states piling on top it is NOT.

2) The government is allowing the merger
of Citibank with Travelers (which absorbed
Salomon), First Union with Corestate, etc etc.
I believe those cases are not for increased
competition and not for the benefit of consumers
and customers. They also eliminate a lot of
job opportunities for a lot of folks. If all these
supermergers are not rejected (in banking, automotive,
etc) on antitrust ground, what is the the argument of
breaking up MSFT?
