Just play along with me for a minute here and suppose that there is something to what Lou has said.

We are coming off a phenomenal investment in IS systems. A lot of it has been rushed because people don't know how to really measure the accompanying productivity gains (just know they need more IS stuff) -- some of it plain doesn't work, and there's Y2K.

Why can't someone, like IBM, who has some name recognition as being an old conservative quality supplier, come in and pick up the pieces and make good margins at it -- at least better than those available in the rapidly declining price environment of PCs, for example?
