Jay - Re: " INTC does a far better job in developer support than MSFT. "

That's good to hear.

I think Intel is still learning - which, in and of itself, is good.

The Katmai is a good example. Intel took it upon themselves to write C/C++ libraries to support the Katmai New Instructions (KNI), otherwise known as MMX2 and is in the process of releasing these products to developers.

Apparently, Intel will also be "shipping" Katmai Systems (Betas) ti these same developers.

The goal, obviously, is to have software written for Katmai and available in time for the official Katmai launch next year.

The original MMX launch - with slow software adoption - taught Intel some key lessons and they appear to be making good and appropriate changes.
