HP used to sell K5-based boxes for the sub-$1000 market. That product was recently discontinued.

There are rumors that a K6 box is on the way, but no confirmation yet.

HWP sell any AMD powered computer?

XYZ,

Why is HP dropped over $10 today? Could it be that HP is having tough time competing w/o K6 on the product lines?

XYZ,

CPQ uses a lot more Intel chips than AMD's. Unless CPQ switched majority of the chips from Intel to AMD, CPQ poor performance should be blamed on Intel. It would be painlessly to discontinue products based on AMD chips (since it relatively small compares to those based on Intel's) if profits weren't there. Would it?

Think about it if you still have your brain. CPQ uses second source to maximize profits. Generally, it costs more to deal with multiple vendors (CPU makers). I have been (many times) at CPQ manufacturing lines in Houston and Asia. New assemble lines have to be made and dedicated for certain types of chip and different vendors. Companies will not go to extra length unless they are favorable.

Not long ago when CPQ and other Tier 1 PC makers were in Intel only club, I heard nothing but praises. As so as anyone jump ship (even use a tiny fraction of their total units), you Intellopers pointed fingers and black-listed these companies. I wonder what if DELL starts using some K6, what will DragonBoy say? It sound like sourgrapes to me. This kind of stuff draws attentions to the DOJ.

If you still can't coup with this, you really deserve to be "XYZ" (last in IQ) than ABC. <ggg>
