Basically this a lot of crap as every implementation of a Java client that I have seen has been platform dependent. There are thousands of Java Applets that Mac owners cannot use because they are only written for Unix and Windows/NT. The idea of a universal client which is the other half of the Java equation is pure fantasy at this point.

If you guys who are so busy criticizing MSFT would use a competing product you would really know how dumb some of the criticisms offered really are. If your so upset about MSFT go buy a Mac or a Solaris Workstation. If MSFT has you handcuffed there is always the alternative of another OS which to me has been superior all along.

Mr. HR,

The problem for JAVA being an OS, is that it is slower than Win. Also, it has problems on some systems. I don't think they are major problems but still problems.

I think I read in an article written by one of the developers of JAVA, that there are some hitchs in JAVA. Not sure where I read it, so please don't take it to the bank. But I know there are some problems that exist that must be worked out for JAVA to be an universal OS.

JAVA as an OS is still a ways off.

Thank you

JK
