Are you saying that the market is really free and that this is the result OR that if the market was really free there would be true competition in this area? Which is it?

Real competition in the PC area required some standardization, correct?

Do you believe that there are any barriers to entry in the market to produce an OS which would compete with Win95?

How is it just based on customer choice when the OS is bundled with every PC that is sold? Practically speaking, can I buy a PC and then just decide which OS I want to put on it?

C'mon freeus. Does US capitalism always = freedom?

Can Mr. Bill control how successful outfits are that write apps for Win95 by how much "special" info he releases to developers? Does MSFT have a decided advantage here or not and does it matter at all?

Personally I hope Java puts a serious dent in MSFT's earnings. MSFT's 'systems' have been anything but open! I have tried to write code using the COMs interface. It's terrible -- engineered for one purpose -- keep people out.

Really interested in your ideas, but in practice.

I believe markets should be as free as possible and perhaps MSFT has already shot itself in the foot the same way that Apple did by being greedy. Time will tell. I don't care whether DOJ does anything to them or not.
