>>What is most fascinating about this thread is the different, divergent approaches to trading that are represented here. In the words of the great Zen masters, "Find your own way."<<

You are so right about the different methods that people employ and if it works for the individuals concerned, that is what matters.

Pat is a excellent intuitive trader--and he is only comfortable day-trading--and does not like carrying overnight positions. JM's approach, I cannot label at this point, but is he quite comfortable carrying positions overnight. We both--you and I-- seem to be system traders -- for the most part. In day trading, which I have been doing for just about a week at this point, I am using an element of intuition -- though quite wary of it--certainly no definitive system. The jury is still out whether I'll be successful at it and whether it is worth it, given the time commitment involved. I know that if Pat had not been around and posting his trades, I'd certainly not be day trading today.

But different approaches can and do work---like yesterday, Pat and JM traded the short side almost the whole time. I would only trade the long side -- and we all made money, I think.
