Someone thank me. I held off, looking to steal more at bargain prices, didn't get any more, so of course there is the following news release today. I may be asking someone to give me a swift kick in the next couple of weeks, even though this release tells us nothing we didn't already know. Jim Friday May 15, 5:27 pm Eastern Time Company Press Release AFS Nears Completion of Santiago Natural Gas Conversion Projects CALGARY, Alberta--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 15, 1998--Alternative Fuel Systems (AFS), chosen as one of the main participants in the Sustainable Santiago Project in Chile, has successfully installed their Eagle dual-fuel management system on public transportation buses. These vehicles are currently being monitored and road-tested, indicating that this pilot project is well underway, nearing completion. The main objective of the natural gas conversion project is to improve the transportation system, and focuses on verifying the technical and economical feasability of implementing a transportation system with clean technologies and alternative fuels. In a second pilot project, The Business Development Centre (Santiago Innova), partner in the Sustainable Santiago Project, has installed AFS equipment to convert trucks of Coca Cola distributor Embotelladora Andina to natural gas. The National Commission for the Environment (CONAMA) and the Regional Intendente have endorsed the project, and extend services of the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunication's emission testing plant. This project is well underway and near completion. The Sustainable Santiago project is a joint initiative of International Council for Local Environmental Issues (ICLEI), the municipality of Santiago and the Corporation for the Development of Santiago, Chile, and is funded in part by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) southern Cone Technology Transfer Fund. ICLEI is the international environmental agency for local governments; their World Secretariat is in Toronto, Canada (Web site: www.iclei.org). Successful demonstration of the AFS Eagle natural-gas conversion for these pilot projects will result in a broad scope of natural-gas conversion throughout the entire region. AFS proprietary technology provides immediate solutions to pollution problems. AFS technology is now represented in many areas of the world. It has been successfully tested in pilot projects in cities like Tokyo, Osaka, Sao Paulo, Santiago, Pusan, and an ongoing contractual project in Mexico City involving the Sparrow system. The AFS Sparrow electronic fuel management system converts gasoline burning engines to compressed natural gas (CNG). The advanced technology Eagle diesel dual-fuel management system allows the use of CNG in diesel engines. The innovative patented AFS Sparrow, AFS Eagle and revolutionary reverse-flow catalytic converter firmly position AFS on the cutting edge of global efforts to reduce engine emissions. AFS is listed on the Vancouver Stock Exchange, trading symbol ATF.
