Along these lines ... I see bouyancy to the network
sector in general based on attention from the merger
talk ... see BAY thread ... new, much stronger rumors
regarding Nortel/BAY.

I also see very strong signs of new business models
appearing that accelerate deployment of high-speed
internet access (cable, DSL). E.g., Bay has deployed
a GigaBit switch in a housing project in Sweden ...
a real estate trust has invested in rights to install
many cable modems in high-density housing projects.
(see BAY thread for details).

These indicators mark out for me a trend toward creative
end-runs around the entrenched MSO's and RBOC's who
are moving toward fat pipes with leviathan ponderousity.

Cable and DSL will not have to wait for approval by the
traditional "gods of bandwidth" ... if they won't play,
screw 'em ... we can get a lot done without 'em.

If this hits the market consciousness, we'll see a pop
in networking, DSL, and cable.

Thus I pound my drum ...
