Lucretious....Analysts are saying 2nd half of this year should be best part of year for PC sales....Here again, I've heard this slowdown thing for a couple years, but I don't think it's in '98......Go long..You'll double your money before '98 is over, then reevaluate if you want to continue going long, but you're way, way too premature to be talking this slowdown bit....

Hope you're right on top of the trigger when it's time to cover - ouch!

Regards, George

<<This qtr's earnings will be fine, but you don't seem to understand the high expectations for DELL right now. If the co were to say on Tues that their growth rate was slowly slightly (maybe down 5% from last yr) The stock will get KILLED.>.

This is a crock Lucretius.....First JP, now you.....So, you think people are going to dump the stock if Dell shows revenue growth of "only" 53.5%, and/or net profits growth of "only" 77%, and/or EPS growth of "only" 89%......(BTW- EPS growth of 89% would put the quarterly # at .51, did you know this before you commented? This is far more than needed than to boost the stock once again.) The numbers that you so lightly discount would represent obscene growth for any company, not to mention a Fortune 500, and given what the rest of the market has been reporting (especially technology), Dell can come with lower growth than your scare comments and do just fine on Wednesday. EPS of .44 or above and positive future comments will keep things rolling...

Your little attempt (along with JP's) to try to frame the issue to your liking is so transparent it is ridiculous. You know they are going to make the number; You know that they are going to beat the number. Your "only" shaky argument left is to say that expectations are so high, that the company can not meet built-in ridiculous expectations.....Please come back on Wednesday for us, will you? Anyone who would react based on substance of most of your comments would be foolish indeed! Dell will offer up a great quarter, once again doubters will scratch their heads and wonder "how do they do that?", and bull longs will continue to wonder why these doubters don't just read and listen all the articles written on the Dell and the industry, and use their brains a little.... (for example, who in their right mind would invest one dollar in HP's stock after what their management does...missing quarter-after-quarter missing estimates, and pre-announcing one day before..)

Your only hope, as I see it, is to try to panic people to see before Wednesday; Otherwise, all of your put positions will end up worthless.........

All IMO, of course...

By the way, it is amazing how the fundamentals of the Japanese market are turning..
