Dear Gregor, how well we all know that blessing from God does come in the form of possessions, good food and money to buy things we either must have of necessity, or simply want. I believe that Emile meant to never doubt that LACK of all this wonderful abundance means falling out of favor with God, as well as the most blessed have usually look absolutely pathetic in the eyes of worldly people. If not plain nuts. To support your point, I look also at Job. Total devastation and ruin when he seems to have done nothing to really deserve it. Yet he ended up with even more. He ended up what we would call filthy rich in his day. Perhaps in an agrarian society abundance does not tend to destroy like abundance, liesure and wealth do in every single urban setting. The secret is maybe there are not a lot of rich, rich Christians because God can trust so very few to not let it slowly destroy them also. I believe that, Gregor, and know that nothing has come into my life with more than I needed except trouble. j And my generous spirit tended to get lost in fun having. So, I have to say I don't exactly think I am an android from another planet, but am fairly representative of human life on earth. Paul sure did stay at subsistence level economically, but I truly doubt that he wandered in rags and starving. This is the way of satan, not the way of Jesus Christ. I just believe he was kept completely away from worldly problems of having money and wanting more. But I do beware of monetary increase, because usually no real good comes with it if you already have enough. I say that only for me, unless I was truly generous enough to simply give every single cent I have away, and of course I don't see myself doing that. So, our Lord in His Infinite Wisdom has saved me from the problem of what to do with ALL THIS MONEY!!!! :) And Praise His Holy Name for it. What people REALLY need is not a check we write, but "in the name of Jesus Christ, stand up and walk." Silver and gold Peter and John had none, but such as they had they gave to the crippled man. What would he have treasured more, a nice $20 dollar bill from two flush evangelists, or the ability to walk?
