Chuzz-

Just to add where I get my numbers from......

In looking back in my file folder on Dell (I won't call it a "bible", I'll reserve that word for DellGod Kemble's use only!), I see that in an article in IBD in late April, Dell is listed as having a 7.9% worldwide PC shipment market-share for 1Q '98. (IDC estimate)...The 7.3% number I quoted was the number(was remembered from) Dataquest estimates for worldwide PC shipments in the 1st quarter.... I believe worldwide % unit growth (for Dell) comes in the high 60's year-over-year.......

Ironically, in the same article, HP Jim MCDonnell (the same guy who challenged Dell in the Fortune article and blew it) is quoted as saying, "We've never stuffed the channel like Compaq. We're in a much better position!"....The article mentions that HP officials aren't worried about Compaq PC's in the channel. They're outdate, insists McDonnell, and won't sell.

Speaks (bad) for itself. No further comment.

By the way, wanted to tell you that I really enjoy your posts. You are usually very clear, concise, and factual. Thanx for your contribution.
